Thesis Statement

Gang activity is mostly influenced in low income areas where the kids look up to rappers as their role models. From my viewing I believe rappers, and the media are both too blame for the negative activities in urban cultures today.

in this article Anderson speaks about the negative media exposure that influences our young teens today. He states short-term exposure leads to physical and verbal aggressive behavior. the article also talks about the long term effects of negative media exposure it can cause aggressive social behavior and many more. the reliability of this source is very strong, because it is newly up to date source; it is also written by a psy. professor at an university. I will be able to use this source in my paper, because the information that is provided is very educational and it relates to the topic i am arguing; it also supports my argument.       

Hip Hop LIfe

In the reading Hip Hop Life I thought it was very interesting, because hip hop is one of the most stereotyped music in the industry. In today's society there's a lot of stereotyping that comes along with hip hop music, and some of those stereotypes are the clothes and the way people talk. In the reading Desean Walker says music is not just a style its the way you live, and what I interpret that as is lyrics in a music mostly consist of the persons life and background not only what cars their driving or what clothes their wearing (lifestyle). I believe music is an escape from reality, music gives people hope in certain circumstances, and music is a gift in my eyes.   

Good interview

This interview was a very good interview, because Oprah was allowing Rihanna to express herself. she asked questions that required an explanation; she asked questions that if they were answered in one word they wouldn't make sense to the viewers so she had to explain.

Someone to watch over me

In this week reading someone to watch over me; I thought it was very interesting, and I related to it in some way. I find it interesting that the writer revolves her whole day around living through a social network site. Its kind of normal for kids in our generation to have at least two social network sites but she has at least five, and checks them everyday. I thought the part when she started to talk about how she looks to see where her friends are currently at; or if they came into contact with one another was like she was stalking them. when she talks about the profile pictures of people, and how you could tell whether or not they have confidence from it  can relate to that, because a lot of people do that now.     

It Takes A Tribe

In the reading It takes A tribe by David Berreby. In the beginning I thought he was being very sarcastic; the reason I thought he did this was to get the students comfortable. Later on in the speech he got more serious; he started to talk about how communities are being created within colleges. There are many ways communities are formed in colleges such as organizations, clubs, and sororities. These clubs help people come together.

Identity Project

For the identity project I have came up with the theme friends, sports, and family. So far I have gathered some pictures that I will use in my collage. I have not came up with an idea of how my collage is going to look, and how I am going to form the pictures.
